There are a few official mailing lists related to this project, so choose your poison wisely. Other (unofficial) mailing lists and forums can be found on the forums page.
List Restrictions
Note: In an effort to fend off spam, some lists are configured to allow only members to post messages. This means that non-members *cannot* post messages to these lists. You have two options if you want to post to a restricted list and are not a current subscriber:
- Subscribe to the list and receive periodic list postings (this is a normal subscription)
- Subscribe to the list and disable mail delivery to your account (this is done in the web page where you subscribe) If you disable mail delivery, you will not receive a copy of list postings.
Unsubscribing
Note: If you want to unsubscribe yourself from one of the mailing lists, do the following:
- Click on the subscribe/unsubscribe link for the appropriate list below. That will take you to the list subscription configuration page.
- At the very bottom of the page you will find an option to edit your subscription options (i.e. unsubscribe)
- Enter your email address (the one you subscribed to the list with) in the text field and click the "Edit Options" button
At the next screen, enter your password in the appropriate field to be removed from the list. If you forgot the password that you initially used when you subscribed, use the password reminder option on the same page.

| nagios-users (nagios-users@lists.sourceforge.net) |
This is intended to be a general purpose list for users of Nagios. If you're having problems installing Nagios or getting things running, search the archive for possible solutions. If you can't find what you're looking for, post the problem description and someone may be able to help you out. The volume of messages on this list tends to be in the range of about 30 messages per day.

| nagios-announce (nagios-announce@lists.sourceforge.net) |
This is a low volume, moderated list used for sending out announcements regarding new versions of Nagios, plugins, addons, etc. I would strongly suggest that you subscribe to this list, as any security-related or other "must have" patches will be announced here first.
| nagios-devel (nagios-devel@lists.sourceforge.net) |
This is a list for people with an interest in working on Nagios addons, event handlers, etc. It is also a place where you can report problems with the "core" code and suggest ideas for future enhancements.
Patches for Nagios can be sent to this list - they should be in unified diff format, as outlined in this FAQ. If possible, please make sure that your patches are made against the latest code revision found in CVS.

| nagios-checkins (nagios-checkins@lists.sourceforge.net) |
This is a moderated (no posting by users) mailing list containing information about Nagios CVS commits/checkins for the core program and CGIs. If you don't have any interest in tracking development of the core code, you won't care about this list...
| nagiosplug-help (nagiosplug-help@lists.sourceforge.net) |
This list is intended to be a resource for anyone who is having problems with the plugins.
| nagiosplug-devel (nagiosplug-devel@lists.sourceforge.net) |
This list is targeted at people who are working on new plugins and/or improving existing ones.

| nagiosplug-checkins (nagiosplug-checkins@lists.sourceforge.net) |
This is a moderated (no posting by users) mailing list containing information about CVS commits/checkins for the Nagios plugins. If you don't have any interest in tracking development of the plugins, you won't care about this list...
